In addition to performing and recording as an instrumentalist, Tesar is also a record producer, composer and
educator. He has written and recorded over five hundred pieces for independent film and television productions and appears himself as a presenter in a PBS educational series 'Exploring The World Of Music'.
Currently he is the pianist and musical director for the British progressive rock band 'RENAISSANCE, a position he has held now for many years. The group performs throughout the world and is widely recognized for their unique combining of Classical, Folk, Rock and Jazz music as well as the integration of a full symphony orchestra on many of their classic albums. Tesar has been a producer and audio engineer on many of the recent productions, including the 2012 studio album 'Symphony Of Light', and two DVDs of 'live' concerts, one from 2011 at the Keswick in Philadelphia, and another in 2015 at the Union Chapel in London. In 2017 the group completed a tour in South America and the US. The US tour included four special concerts which featured the addition of a small chamber orchestra. The venues were Town Hall NYC, Ridgefield Playhouse CT, NY State Theater (The Egg) Albany, and Keswick Theater PA. The Keswick show was filmed and the new DVD is set to be released in the spring of 2018.
Rave Tesar is also the leader of his own jazz trio. The group released its first CD entitled 'You Decide' in
2008, and featured all Rave Tesar compositions. The album received enthusiastic reviews from critics and made its way into the top 40 playlist of jazz stations nationwide. Two subsequent albums have been released:
'Defragment Now' and 'Open Door'. In May of 2018, he will be touring again with Renaissance and the schedule will include an encore performance with the chamber group at NJPAC in Newark, NJ.
